- Title Not So Happy Meal: McDonald’s Staff Refuse Customer’s £50 Note In Heated Altercation
- Summary A heated interaction between a customer and McDonalds staff has amassed 3.6 million views on TikTok, after the fast food chain refused a woman’s £50 note as payment. On March 19th, at a Bedfordshire McDonalds drive thru, Lora Kingham recorded the altercation between herself and staff as her payment was refused. Lora had taken her young son to McDonalds for his third birthday when she attempted to pay for the meal with a £50 bank note, which prompted staff and management to refuse the money due to an influx in fake notes they had received. After allegedly talking to Lora unprofessionally, she began to record the conversation highlighting the reason her payment was refused. When queried, staff members had said there was ‘too many fake notes being accepted’ which Lora stated was not her fault and they should ‘have the right equipment to test’. Following staff closing the hatch at the drive thru, Lora went to another McDonalds to attempt to get her now agitated son a birthday meal. Thankfully, this particular restaurant allowed her to pay with the bank note as she explained the instance to the staff at that establishment. Lora said: “I was so angry and upset and believed if the manager had dealt with the situation better and had better customer service skills, I wouldn’t have reacted the way I did. “My boy wasn’t upset by me, he was upset that we had to drive away without his ‘happy meal’ and then as a parent I had to try and explain it to a three-year-old, even though he had seen that Mummy had money in her hand.” ARK Media has reached to McDonalds for a comment.
